Jake Winder

Jake is currently employed as a physical education teacher in Oswego School District 308. He has spent his whole career constructing programs to promote health, wellness, and fun, such as Morning Miles, Morning Movement, Walk Across America, and the Southbury Fun Run. He resides in the Joliet/Plainfield area with his wife, Michelle, and two girls Lacey (4) and Brooklyn (2).

Education:

  • Plainfield South High School

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education through North Central College.

Coaching Experience: He has coached junior high and high school athletes through the North Central College pole vault camp for over 15 years.

High School Athletic Accolades:

  • Cross Country State qualifier (alternate)

  • 2005 IHSA State Pole Vaulting Champion

  • 2 time USATF Junior National Championship qualifier

Collegiate Athletic Accolades:

  • 3 time NCAA Division III National Champion

Post-Collegiate Athletic Accolades:

  • 2nd Place Finish in the Indoor USATF National Championships

  • 2 time ultramarathon finisher in the 50 mile and 100K distances

  • Member of the Plainfield South High School Hall of Fame

Luke Winder

Luke Winder is the last active vaulter in the Winder family of pole vaulters.  He is currently competing in elite level meets throughout the United States. In 2019, Luke will pursue his masters degree in leadership at North Central College. He resides in Naperville with his fiancée, Amber.

Coaching Experience: Luke has worked with all levels of athletes through the North Central College pole vaulting camps and currently trains athletes in group and individual settings.

Tim Winder

Tim resides in the Joliet/Plainfield area with his wife, Margo. He has taught at Madison Junior High (Naperville District 203) for over 25 years.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Physical Education

  • 33 years of coaching the pole vault (6 years high school and 27 years collegiate)

  • 19 NCAA Division III NCAA National Pole Vault Champions

Coaching Awards:

  • 2 times named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Assistant Coach of the Year.

  • 3 times named the USTFCCCA's Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year

  • North Central College Hall of Fame Inductee
